I AM #1

We were watching a stupid game show one night & one of the questions was, "According to men, who is the most important woman in a man's life?" The answer?
Wait for it...his MOTHER.
Okay, deep breaths.
It's okay now.

Even the hubs man was all, "Whaaa...." Thankfully the man on the show said, "His wife." And even more thankfully, my man said, "Wife." I said, "Mom." Just because I like saying the opposite of the obvious.

Don't get me wrong, Mom should be a respected & important person to her son. Well, most Moms. Some don't deserve it, but that's a different story. From birth my son has been taught to respect me & his sisters so that he'll be able to respect other women. Every important man in my son's life has upheld this belief for him.

Once he gets married, a man should make his wife the most important woman. Wives already have to compete with their mother in-law in every area. Mom is the first female cook a boy knows, she's the first one that folded his underwear, the first one to have ruined babied him when he was sick. Everything the wifey does will be held up against what Mommy did before her.

I want my hubby's Mom to be important to him because without her, he wouldn't be here. I'm so glad she didn't claim to have a headache on a lovely night 33 years ago. It's fun to remind hubby that contrary to the belief he has always held, his Mother is, in fact, NOT a virgin.

She's the one who raised him & put up with a lot of crap from him. But I'm the one who can make that dude's life a living hell if he doesn't put me in the #1 spot. He so better appreciate that.

To all the men out there that said, "Mom" to that question...take my advice. Buy your wife something with at least 1 diamond, take her out to dinner, and tell her how wrong & stupid you were to have ever said that. You can thank me later.
